Scientific Curator, YPD
Scientific Curators are responsible for collecting and integrating scientific information into Biobase’s Proteome brand databases. A Scientific Curator working for YPD (Yeast Proteome Database) will typically work with the full text of a reference to extract and enter all information relevant to the database. Information will be entered both in the form of controlled vocabulary properties (such as Gene Ontology terms) and as free-text annotations which summarize individual experimental findings and conclusions. A background in yeast laboratory work (particularly with the species Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Schizosaccharomyces pombe, and/or Candida albicans) and familiarity with techniques normally discussed in the yeast literature is essential.
REQUIREMENTS
Ph.D. or masters degree in the Biological Sciences

Full-time position is ideal for anyone with prior sales/customer support experience in the life sciences industry or scientists with practical experience, who wishes to apply their technical/scientific expertise outside of the lab in a client-facing environment. This position requires travelling within Europe.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Pre- and post-sales customer support i.e. be a part of the sales and marketing team and assist current and potential customers with technical and scientific questions regarding BIOBASE databases, software and services (on site, over the phone and via email)
- Present BIOBASE’s scientific value proposition effectively and persuasively
- Explain and demonstrate BIOBASE product features, functionalities, applications and benefits to target audience
- Handle customer related issues in a timely manner and ensure products and services are utilized effectively at customer site
- provide on-site as well as remote training sessions for end-users at customer site
REQUIREMENTS
- BS, MS or PhD in a life-science discipline with strong bioinformatics, computational biology or biology background
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; prior experience in teaching/trainings preferred
- Strong organizational skills with attention to details
- Outgoing personality, team player with a strong business acumen
- IT background as well as knowledge of BIOBASE products would be a plus
